What is PhIMA?
PhIMA strives to provide valuable learning opportunities and networking events for agencies, publishers, and clients alike.
The organization’s intent is to encourage open communication in an effort to increase the sense of community within the Greater Philadelphia market. Participation and membership will help to support the future of the industry and is open to professionals of all levels.
Board of Directors
Jessica McManimen, Executive Director, PhIMA
Currently, Jessica is a stay at home mom living in Lancaster with her husband, Alex, and two sons, Colin and Gavin. Despite not having a full-time professional career, Jessica keeps busy and stays connected to the industry by way of her involvement on the PhIMA Board. As one of the founders of PhIMA, Jessica has enjoyed heightening industry recognition of the Philadelphia interactive community since 2005.
Prior to becoming a stay at home mom, Jessica was most recently employed by NetPlus Marketing, where she served as the VP of Operations. Jessica oversaw a multi-disciplinary team which included online media, search engine marketing, marketing intelligence and campaign management. Jessica’s primary responsibility as VP of Operations was to ensure that her team kept the work flowing smoothly from start to finish - on time, on budget, and better than expected.
Beginning her career with Harmelin Media, and with the exception of a year spent working for AOL in Dulles, VA, Jessica worked for NetPlus for well over eight years, starting as a senior Media Buyer, and advancing through account services to operations.
Greg Ebbecke, Treasurer, Harmelin Media
Greg has spent the bulk of his career advocating for the unification of digital and traditional media planning under the umbrella of a single, data-driven marketing strategy. As Director, Business Intelligence at Harmelin Media, he is the lead advocate for advancing the use of information products to explore the impact of marketing initiatives on each client’s business results. Behind the scenes, Greg is partnering with Harmelin’s Marketing Technology and IT departments to reimagine the tools, processes and products that form the foundation of the modern agency.
Greg currently holds a BS in marketing from Villanova University and an MBA with a concentration in management information systems from Temple University. Outside of the office, he focuses his time on reinventing himself as a parent, an avid reader and (least successfully) as a golfer.
Sarah Bast, Sponsor Relations, Digitas Health
Sarah has been a part of the Digitas Health family going on 5 years. As a media VP/Director she leads media strategy for clients such as AstraZeneca. She has expertise in development of multi channel digital promotional campaigns that expand across Online Advertising, Search Engine Marketing, and Electronic Medical Records. Her focus on analysis, optimization and ultimately recommendations help her clients achieve their goals.
Sarah’s vast experience has been centered on healthcare since early on in her career when she served as a communications analyst for Bristol-Myers Squibb. She then went on to work for MS3 (MarketSource IMS) as a media manager for brands including Acuvue, Pepcid and Reach. She also worked as a media manager for Beyond Interaction, focusing on GlaxoSmithKline as her core client.
In addition, Sarah has built her marketing communications skills working in the sports and entertainment industries for organizations including the New York Knicks, Madison Square Garden, NBC Olympics, and Universal Orlando Resort.
Sarah earned a bachelor of science degree in recreation and park management with a minor in business marketing from Penn State University. During her education she also studied at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. Fun Fact: Sarah was a member of the Penn State Blue Band majorette squad.
Maura Dailey, Member Relations, SocialFlow
With over a decade of digital marketing experience, Maura has watched the quick evolution of our industry. From being a Flash-based medium for pop-ups, to the invention and adoption of mobile and tablet, to the rise of the social networks and all the technology advances that have fueled these advances, Maura loves the pace and innovation of being a part of this digital revolution. Currently, Maura is Director of Marketing at SocialFlow, who provides publishers with tools and products to promote and monetize their editorial content. Prior to SocialFlow, Maura spent 8 years with local ad server/rich media provider, PointRoll (now part of Sizmek). Maura started her career working on the agency side in traditional advertising when digital was an emerging technology and not a necessity.
Maura attended Lafayette College where she captained the women’s swim team. She resides in Philadelphia, PA and spends her free time running and crafting.
Ellen (Blum) Hager, Co-Chair, Event Planning, Rocket Fuel
Ellen is the newest member of the PhIMA Board, joining in 2013. Ellen started her first job in the interactive space over five years ago with Internet Broadcasting (now Cox Digital Solutions). She landed this position as an Account Executive through relationships cultivated at a PhIMA networking event. At Internet Broadcasting, Ellen found success by focusing on the pharmaceutical vertical in the Philadelphia area. Specifically her partnership with Digitas Health and Astra Zeneca to strategically create programs that drove patients from local news TV ads to sponsorship destinations online.
After Internet Broadcasting, Ellen took a position as a Sales Director with WebMD where she continued to focus on the pharma vertical. At WebMD she continued her strong ties to Philadelphia by working with Razorfish Healthware and Digitas Health through the development of several programs aimed at engaging and educating consumers about promoted drug brands. Ellen is very excited to recently join Rocket Fuel as a Senior Account Executive. Working under our PhIMA board member, Scott Shulman, Ellen is once again responsible for growing the Philadelphia and PA territory. She is very enthusiastic for this challenge, especially to work at such an innovative company in the multiplatform digital space.
Ellen received her bachelor’s degree in Business Management from Moravian College. During her four years at Moravian Ellen was President of her class and President of her Sorority. She is also very active and enjoys running with her clients and friends on Kelly Drive.
Kate Zwizanski, Co-Chair, Event Planning, Communications Media, Inc.
Kate began her career in 2005 with CMI, and has been working her way up the ranks ever since. Working mostly with major Pharmaceutical clients, she manages several accounts and provides media strategy/consulting support helping her customers navigate the Healthcare Professional media landscape. She enjoys the fast-pace of media strategy, in an ever-changing and truly dynamic environment, especially piloting emerging digital channels to engage busy HCPs.
She has been recognized as 2007 CMI Employee of the Year, and was later acknowledged as a 2010 Healthcare Businesswomen’s Association HBA Rising Star. While working, Kate also completed her MBA at St. Joseph’s University in 2012 and was a merit scholar inductee. Her undergrad degree was received at Penn State, where she was avidly involved in “THON”, an annual dance marathon that raises millions of dollars for the Four Diamonds Fund, which helps children with cancer. Kate loves dogs, and has a Great Dane named “Janie”.
AJ Dopwell, CMI Media LLC
With over 10 years of pharmaceutical healthcare media experience, AJ is responsible for the strategic management of all media deliverables and for growing business organically across his accounts. He oversees the development of media strategies that align to client business objectives and challenges. In order to drive success for his clients, it is essential that AJ collaborate with cross functional teams both internally and externally. Prior to joining CMI Media, AJ was Account Director with Cadient, a Cognizant Company, a pharmaceutical healthcare digital marketing agency where he was responsible for the overall client engagement for a dAOR assignment. In this role, AJ led a team of agency professionals spanning multiple disciplines in delivering innovative digital marketing solutions targeting healthcare professionals, patients as well as consumers.
Additionally, AJ guest lectures at his alma mater, Temple University, speaking with students preparing to launch their professional careers in marketing, media and communications. AJ lives in Philadelphia with his partner, Mark. Together they enjoy cooking, traveling, dining out and spending time exploring the city.
Alison Ebbecke, Temple University
Alison Ebbecke is an Assistant Professor of Advertising, specializing in media strategy and digital advertising. Prior to joining Temple full-time, Alison spent nearly a decade as a media professional and account manager working on campaigns at the regional and national level for a variety of brand categories including tourism, entertainment, insurance, automotive and CPG. Over this time, she experienced first-hand the speed and scale of change that our increasingly digital world is driving within the advertising industry.
As the Department of Advertising expands the emphasis of digital and media skill sets, Alison looks forward to leveraging her experience to help enhance the curriculum. In 2015, she established Temple’s inaugural competition team in the Google Online Marketing Challenge (GOMC). This global competition offers Temple undergraduates the opportunity to translate the lessons they have learned in the classroom into real-world experience developing and running an online advertising campaign for a business or non-profit organization.
Alison received her Bachelor of Arts in Journalism, Public Relations, & Advertising from the Temple University School of Media and Communication and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in Digital Innovation in Marketing from the Temple University Fox School of Business and Management.
Bill Cook, Temple University
Bill Cook is an Assistant Professor of Advertising at Temple University, where he teaches a variety of advertising, marketing and media studies courses. In addition to his career in higher education, Bill works in account services and public relations for Stoner Bunting Advertising in Lancaster, and consults for a small roster of clients.
Prior to joining Temple as a full-time faculty member, Bill worked in advertising, PR and event planning for several companies in Philadelphia and Lancaster. During this time he focused on account services, public relations and copywriting, representing residential and commercial building product manufacturers. From 2010-2014 he served as an adjunct professor at Temple University, eventually transitioning to his current full-time role in the Fall of 2014.
Although he was briefly a Nittany Lion when he attended Penn State University for his Masters Degree in Communications, Bill is a Temple Owl at heart. He completed his undergraduate degrees in Advertising and German Language Studies (along with a Minor in Business Administration) at Temple.
Julie Paretchan, Strategic Alliance, Electronic Ink
Julie joined the PhIMA board in January of 2014 as Head of Strategic Partnerships.
Currently Julie serves as the VP Business Development at Electronic Ink, a design and research based consulting firm helping people work better with their technology and environments within enterprise organizations.
Prior to Electronic Ink, Julie worked across various fields including online marketing at SEER Interactive, Internet TV at Civil.Net, e-commerce at eBay Enterprise and financial services at SEI. She held various functions including client relationship management, strategic planning, business development, marketing, product development, project management, market research and global expansion. During her time at SEI, she also worked/lived abroad in Paris, London and Toronto pioneering their global growth efforts across multiple continents.
Outside of PhIMA and her current job, she is involved in the community serving on the United Way Women’s Initiative Board which supports the Girls Today Leaders Tomorrow program as well as the former Founder and Chair for the Armenian Young Professionals of Philadelphia.
A graduate of Lehigh University, Julie received her degree in International Relations and Economics with a minor in French as well as a semester in France. While at Lehigh, she stayed busy rowing, being a tour guide and residential advisor. Julie now spends her spare time staying active with the Philly arts scene, hiking, biking and when possible, surfing and scuba diving.
